What is split face diving?

Split face diving is a type of freediving where the diver wears a mask that covers only one eye. This technique is used to help improve the diver's ability to equalize pressure in the middle ear while descending to deeper depths. By covering one eye, the diver is able to maintain their balance and orientation in the water, while using the uncovered eye to monitor their surroundings and their dive partner. Split face diving is typically done with a partner, and communication is key to ensure safety. It is important for the divers to use hand signals to communicate with each other, as talking is not possible underwater. Split face diving is a challenging but rewarding experience for experienced freedivers.
